MARIAH CAREY LIGHTS UP THE EMPIRE STATE BUILDING FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

On Valentine’s Day Eve, Mariah Carey lit up the Empire State Building in pink and lavender (her signature
colors), in honor of their Valentine’s Day event “Love Above All.”

At the event, she showed her own true diva colors by making crews wait 5 hours for her big appearance. But to be fair, there was a giant blizzard taking over New York City, so the fact that Mimi showed up at all was positively surprising.

When she did arrive, she made a grand entrance of course. She dressed the part of a fabulous snow queen, wearing a floor-length white gown with her shoulders draped in white fur and full-sleeved white gloves.

For the event, three lucky couples were chosen to exchange wedding vows at The Empire State Building with Mariah in attendance. (No pressure, Mariah Carey’s just standing by, watching you take the biggest step of your entire life.)

Addressing the crowd before the event, Mimi said, “We all love a snowy morning in New York for Valentine’s Day. We were hoping for a little more sunshine, but you’re gonna have to bring it from within. I’m here to push these couples’ love eternal.” A magical, eternal love push from Mariah… how lucky for these newlyweds! She continued, “They wanted me to get ordained and marry these couples, but I just couldn’t go that far.”

Mariah also just dropped a new song, “You’re Mine (Eternal)” on Valentine’s Day Eve Eve for all the lovers out there; a touching and safe love song that stays true to the classic Mariah tunes of latter years.

She told REVOLT it was important for her to stay true to her own time-honored sound, saying, “I personally don’t like to follow trends unless its something that’s organic and feels right for me. So it’s like we all want to have success but you have to bring yourself into whatever you’re doing.”

“If you mute the vocal it could be a rap record,” she added. “For me it’s always been very important that the basic aspect of the song has to be strong enough that it can stand alone.”

She co-wrote and co-produced the song along with hit maker Rodney Jerkins. Mariah said of Jenkins, “What’s exciting about it is, yes, it’s the first time that I’ve worked with Rodney in a while. And we did one of my favorite songs on the re-release of The Emancipation of Mimi, so it was really exciting to get back in the studio with Rodney because he’s a music lover as well. And we were kind of on the same page with this record.”

Mariah Carey shot the music video mostly topless (with strategic arm placement) in the rain forests of Puerto Rico. She admits it’s “one of my favorite places in the world. That’s where I shot the video for ‘Honey’ with Paul Hunter a couple years back, but still one of my favorites, probably the best time I ever had making a video ever, ever in my life.”
