Message from Mariah via her Facebook page!

Hi lambs, after everything I've been through this year, I doubt there's anyone more excited for the holidays to
begin than I am. I usually try my hardest to wait until after Thanksgiving to celebrate the holiday season but this just made my day and I gotta share.

Today on the street, a group of fans stopped me and started singing "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at the top of their lungs. Amazing. So many people tell me: "The holiday season doesn't start for us until we hear All I Want For Christmas Is You by Mariah." Surreal. I humbly thank them but inside I'm jumping up and down like a second grader on a snow day because I WROTE AND PRODUCED that song on a whim!!! To hear this and to see "All I Want For Christmas Is You" at #1 on this week's Billboard's chart... I kinda still can't believe it!

I'll never forget writing the melody and lyrics in a little studio decorated for Christmas in the middle of the summer. In case you know nothing about me, when I was a little girl, Christmas and music were the happiest moments I had and I never realized that people would grow up listening to and singing along with my songs like I grew up listening to "Jingle Bells" or "Santa Claus Is Comin' To Town"

Then, when I saw "Where Are You Christmas?" by Faith Hill at #2, I almost couldn't believe it because I wrote that song with the incredible Oscar-winning genius James Horner for the movie "The Grinch" a couple of years back. It blows my mind and makes me feel like that second grader on a snow day again!!

After I hugged the group of fans goodbye, they ran down the street, waving and continuing their rendition of "All I Want For Christmas Is You", a song I wrote very tongue-in-cheek, very cookies-and-milk, purely childhood-memories-forever!

I just want to thank everyone for consistently supporting my Christmas music year after year because it is so much more than holiday music for me. It's about joy, nostalgia, and it's about never losing the spirit of Christmas in your heart. Happy (very early) holidays! --MC

Mariah Carey Releases Wrong Mix Of 'The Art Of Letting Go'

Mariah Carey introduced her new song, "The Art of Letting Go," to the world this past Monday, but it
wasn't until 3:30 this morning that she realized a mistake had been made.

While Carey's team was celebrating the record's release, one of her sound engineers had mistakenly uploaded an earlier cut of the song instead of the final mixed and mastered version.

Carey took to Facebook in the early hours of the day to explain what happened in a heartfelt message:

Hey Lambs, I have to tell you this, I can't do what I always do and say nothing at all. It is 3:30am (11.14), and I'm sitting on my bathroom floor, very upset by some news I just got from a close friend and employee. Lucky her, she was "nominated" to deliver this message to me after the long awaited 11.11 moment and the Jimmy Fallon show, knowing how upset I would be. Not because the world has come to an end or something, but because this 11.11 listening party was so important to me on a core level as a musician, who cares so much about how my fans hear my music for the first time that I didn't even allow a snippet to be released until 11 on the dot.
To cut to the chase, a mistake was made by a brand new sound engineer whose only task was to press the space bar and upload the song to Facebook, while my team, and an incredible group of people from Facebook, partied while listening to the properly mixed & mastered version of "The Art of Letting Go" on repeat from my iPod on my home speakers. Clearly, I was focused on answering your questions during the Q&A. There was no reason for me to wonder if the final mix we were listening to in that room together was different than what you were listening to!!!!! Like I always say, I am involved with every record I make, from the inception to the completion of the song. Every nuance of the beat or vocal matters to me. Even if the differences may seem slight to you, I had put time, effort and emotions into "The Art of Letting Go" and the real mix is how I intended for you to hear the song.

Rather than remove the old version from Facebook (the iTunes version is the real one), I just figured I would put up the real mix and allow you to listen to it back-to-back, should you choose to do so and tell me what you think the differences are.
I want you to hear it like you're hearing it for the first time with me, and I will answer any questions that you have, pertaining to the song. You know that I don't comment on gossip, I typically don't respond to things like this or go into so much detail to the world, but this is something I'm upset about and I wish I would have known sooner.

There's no doubt in my mind that this sounds like a self absorbed diva on a "woe-is-me" tangent about a couple of ad libs or some other triviality, but the reality is this is me, focusing solely on the record, wanting you to hear it and experience it the right way. I love and appreciate you so much for taking the time to even glance at this 20-page "diva in distress" thesis. Thank you for letting me vent, this is another reason why Facebook rocks! You'll be hearing from me soon. Here is the REAL version of "The Art of Letting Go".

Answers these questions for me:
1. Can you hear a difference at all?
2. Can you see why I like this version better?
3. Where can you hear the differences?
4. Does the song affect you different emotionally after hearing the real version?

Let's talk about it, I'll be here waiting!

While fans gave honest assessments, mostly noting the difference in the vocals, they flooded her with messages of support.

Take a listen to Carey's final version of "The Art of Letting Go" Here, and the earlier version Here.

A fierce Mariah attending the Out Magazine's Out 100 2013: Edie Windsor, Wentworth Miller, Jim Parsons And More Honored

Marriage equality advocate Edie Windsor, director Lee Daniels and out actors Wentworth Miller and Jim
Parsons take top honors on Out Magazine's OUT 100 list for 2013.

Windsor, the Defense of Marriage Act (DOMA) plantiff, received the magazine's Lifetime Achievement honor, while Daniels ("Precious," "The Butler") was named Artist of the Year. Miller, who came out while rejecting an invitation to attend the St. Petersburg International Film Festival in Russia, was named Newsmaker of the Year while Parsons nabbed the Entertainer of the Year honor.

Miller, who confessed to having attempted suicide before coming out, penned a poignant letter to his 15-year-old self for the new issue. It reads, in part:

What I would say to that younger self — what I’d say to anyone who’s walked a similar road — is to focus less on the fact that you nearly ended your life and more on the fact that you survived, that you lived to tell the tale. And then tell it. I’d say, ‘What you think of as scars are medals. They’re badges of honor, testifying to something inside you that is determined and tenacious and enduring.’ That’s why when someone who knows my story approaches me with a ‘poor you’ attitude, my response is, ‘Don’t feel sorry for me. Because I know what it is to be tested. I know what it’s like to be broken and to have to pick myself up again. I know who I am in those moments. And I’m stronger for it.’

Mariah's interview with Angie Martinez on New York's Hot 97

The Art of Letting Go (Reviews)

ROLLING STONE: The melancholy number finds Carey in fine form, exploring loss over a smooth,
orchestral production. The song builds steadily over three and a half minutes, and just when you think that it might be one of Carey's more controlled performances in years, she brings it home with classic Carey high notes.

BILLBOARD: The heartfelt ballad, produced by Rodney Jerkins, finds Mariah showcasing her vocal prowess as she sings of life after heartbreak. "Letting go ain't easy/ It's just exceedingly hurtful/ Cause somebody you used to know is flinging your world around/ And they watch as you're falling down," she belts.

THE DAILY BEAST: In the age of overwrought, overproduced, oversung "artpop," Mariah Carey's latest ballad is refreshingly straightforward and simple - even if there's no real chorus. The timing of the release of Mariah Carey's latest single, "The Art of Letting Go," couldn't be more refreshing. It arrives the same day as Lady Gaga’s new album, ARTPOP, a dizzying kaleidoscope of production tricks and vocal ticks. The simplest of ballads, "The Art of Letting Go," is a much-needed lesson that great pop music is composed of the most basic group of ingredients - a stellar voice and straightforward orchestrations ... There's an undeniable throwback vibe to the Rodney Jerkins-produced song that recalls "Vision of Love," a ballad stripped down to a piano, heartfelt lyrics, and the vocal pyrotechnics of Mariah.

USA TODAY: Proof that Mariah Carey could, indeed, sound captivating singing the phone book. Released Monday on her Facebook page, The Art of Letting Go is a vent disguised as a gospel ballad and has lyrics that often sound rushed and awkward. And there's not so much a chorus as a bolero-like crescendo with organ and strings. But, oh, does she sound fine.

ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY: The song has a nice throwback vibe to it (think "Vision of Love").

MUSIC TIMES: Carey's vocals are high up in the mix, allowing her one-of-a-kind voice to penetrate the listener's ear. A small electronic drum keeps time as a piano riff plays alongside an orchestral string arrangement. As a whole, there are small influences of jazz in the instrumentation, as the piano shuffles along to the beat. It's classic R&B in every sense of the word, as Carey sings about her relatable problems to some old school, beautiful instrumentation.

BUSTLE: One listen to "The Art of Letting Go" will remind nostalgics of Carey's Daydream or Butterfly - albums that saw the musician making use of her insane five-octave register. Just how low (and high) can she still go? "The Art of Letting Go" seems to indicate that she hasn't quite let go of her range yet - shawty gets low, low, low, low.

Mariah Carey bares it all for "The Art Of Letting Go"

Mariah Carey was looking forward to sharing her latest song "The Art of Letting Go" directly with fans by releasing it via Facebook, and on Monday (November 11), the Lambs got exactly what they were waiting for. The emotional track, produced by Rodney Jerkins, find Mimi belting her heart out about the need to move on from a failed relationship that's causing nothing but heartache.
"This is such a personal record to me," she wrote to fans on Facebook. "I wrote the lyrics so that anyone and everyone could relate to them and hopefully release anything that they need to let go of that's holding them back or bringing them down."
And despite what the title of the song might imply, Mariah told MTV News that the concept is still very much a work in progress for her. "I don't think I've mastered the art of letting of go," Carey said, when asked if the title should be interpreted literally. "I think the art of letting go is something that will probably take most people a lifetime to master, so the song can be interpreted however fans like. It's one of those things where people are gonna have to feel the song, if they feel it... then they're really gonna feel it in their heart."
Carey and her manager Jermaine Dupri also explained that they wanted to create a unique experience for fans by premiering it on Facebook, since she has such a dynamic relationship with them. "The way I interact with my fans, it's a different thing than most people," Carey explained. "I've had this type of relationship with my fans since I first knew I had fans, which was not till my third album. It sounds crazy but it's actually true. I never felt like, 'Oh I'm famous.' I think now, people have one song - even if it's one song, they're like, 'Look at me I'm famous.' All of a sudden, fame takes over, but you have to stay you, you have to stay grounded and my fans have kept me grounded."

Mariah Carey shares her vision of "the art of letting go"

Pop singer Mariah Carey released a new single today, a mellow ballad called "The Art of Letting Go". The melancholy number finds Carey in fine form, exploring loss over a smooth, orchestral production. The song builds steadily over three and a half minutes, and just when you think that it might be one of Carey's more controlled performances in years, she brings it home with classic Carey high notes.
"It might sound over the top, but when I was singing this song, I felt like I had touched upon certain emotions within myself that I haven't put on a record in a very long time," she wrote on Facebook about the track back in October.
The song is also the title of her 14th studio album, which she's been working on for years. It's been reported that Jermaine Dupri, Randy Jackson, Q-Tip, R. Kelly, The-Dream, and many others are lending their talents to her new work. "The Art of Letting Go" is the second single to arrive this year; in May, she released "#Beautiful," a song that featured Miguel.

Jermaine Dupri tweeted: Make sure you check out @MariahCarey on hot 97 today at 3;30 with @angiemartinez #TheArtOfLettingGo

The Art of Letting Go (Lyrics)

Verse 1:
I'm making a statement of my own opinion, just a brief little reminder to help myself remember, I no longer
live in your dominion. No, No, No, No, No. You're just trifling, nothing more than a liability. Got a bundle of your possessions outside the kitchen window right now.
Chorus:
Letting go, letting go ain't easy, Oh it's just exceedingly hurtful. Cause somebody you used to know, is flinging your world around and they watch as you're falling down, down, down, falling down.
Verse 2:
Evidently your words were merely lies, reverberating in my ears and the echo won't subside. There's a deep, deep loss of hope and the anger burns in me. I hope you don't get no ideas about reuniting baby cause that's the last thing I truly need. Your audacity is too much to be believed so, go to Mimi on your contacts, press delete.
Chorus:
Letting go ain't easy, Oh it's just exceedingly hurtful. Cause somebody you used to know, is flinging your world around and they watch as you're falling down, down, down, down.
Bridge:
Baby letting go (baby letting go), ain't easy(ain't easy), baby letting go(baby letting go), ain't easy(ain't easy).
Nooo
Chorus:
Baby letting go, it ain't easy, Oh, cause somebody you used to know, is flinging your world around and you know what they watch as you're falling(falling) as you're falling(falling) down.
Ooh, (sigh)it ain't easy baby.

1 DAY and 14 HOURS UNTIL THE NEW SINGLE IS RELEASED!

LAMBS ACTIVATE !!!!

Jermaine Dupri just released this message on Global14:

With basically 1 day left before the release of “The Art Of Letting Go” on Mariahs FaceBook page, i
thought it was important to share with my Lifers, things i’ve learned through this exercise,First off, as big as FaceBook is,when it comes to music people still question how much ground will actually get covered, ive gotten messages every day from lambs like this.(Mariah’s fanbase isn’t like Biebers in that it isnt full of teenagers who sit on Itunes. Many of them are old skool and need to be exposed to the song on radio first to want to support her,so while the Facebook premiere will attract a lot of die hard fans, many more fans will only be exposed to Mariah by airplay and that is what will drive up her iTunes position.) via @meltaway

If your a member of Global14 or a Jermaine Dupri follower than you should know how much i believe in direct connect and how long i’ve been talking about this,i learned the strength of this when i signed Dondria, when people follow you, subscribe to your page or like you, their sending you a very important message, its your job to pay attention and understand what that is.

Before i approached FaceBook about this, i was wrecking my brain trying to think of something to do, that would hit all of her lambs at once, its not many things that can do that, but FaceBook can,to all of the lambs sending me messages,i hope you fully understand this, lets just say if Mariah only had 1 million followers (for laughs) on monday at 11 am each one those million people will recieve a notification of exactly whats going on,REMEMBER!!! this is 1 million people that won’t this notification

The 2nd thing i learned is that internet education is still way down, from the Record labels,Publishing companies,Artist and PR,they still don’t address these content controllers the way they should, and artist of the MC level still don’t use FaceBook to their advantage.as i’m writing this, I’m praying we have all the signatures and legal information taken care of cause just yesterday shit was going crazy!!and with out me going into details,as much as this may sound like its been done before, it really has’nt

On monday 11/11 at 11 am around the world, you will be able to buy the song, listen to the song and ask Mariah question on her FaceBook page, i hope to see you there

Mariah Carey hits new high on Social 50 chart

The Halloween holiday helps Mariah Carey hit a new peak on the Social 50, as a photo of the diva's children
sparks her re-entry at No. 24. The Social 50 ranks the most popular artists on YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Wikipedia, Myspace and Instagram. The chart's methodology blends weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with artist page views, song plays and reactions as measured by music analytics company Next Big Sound.
On Halloween Carey snapped a shot of her kids (Monroe and Moroccan) in their costumes (both dressed as Superman) that got 112,000 likes on Instagram. In turn, the number of new followers to Carey's account on the platform increase by 184% over the previous frame.
On Facebook where it was cross-posted, it received over 350,000 likes (to date) which helped fuel the 243% rise in conversation about Carey on the platform, which gave way to 189,000 new fans (up 170%). Carey peaked at No. 29 in two previous weeks - on the charts dated August 24 and April 20.
Above Carey at No. 17 is the highest debut of the week, as the late Lou Reed arrives on the tally. His arrival is fueled by conversation and buzz generated by his death on October 27. The majority of the activity around Reed occurred on Facebook, where there were 429,000 conversations about him (a 1,746% weekly increase). In addition, his official Facebook page scored 104,000 new followers (up 79%). Fans rushed to reminisce with his music as well, evidenced by the 832% lift the videos on his VEVO channel received in weekly plays.
Even further down, A$AP Rocky debuts on the Social 50 for the first time at No. 48 as the New York rapper releases the video for "Angels" from his early 2013 release Long Live A$AP. The release prompted a 123% increase in conversation on Facebook which led to the addition of 243,000 new followers on the platform (a 125% increase over the previous frame). His YouTube channel where the video was posted on October 31 receives 878,000 views during the week, a 176% increase.
Up near the top of the chart, Eminem makes a predictable rise into the top five, as the chart reflected the week leading up to the release of his new album, "The Marshall Mathers LP 2". He moves 11-4 to reach his second-highest position to date since he hit No. 3 the week of September 21 when "Berzerk" - the first single from "Marshall Mathers LP 2" - was released.
Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus (2-1) and Katy Perry (1-2) swap places as Justin Bieber rebounds 6-3. Demi Lovato dips 3-5 as One Direction swings (8-6), beginning an upward trend we can expect to carry into next week. The group released the video for their newest single "Story Of My Life", late in the current charting period. That continued exposure could push them up the tally next week.
Ariana Grande holds steady at No. 7 while Nicki Minaj climbs (9-8). Britney Spears tumbles 4-9 as Justin Timberlake remains at No. 10 to close out the top 10.
(Billboard)

Nick Cannon: "Letting Go" is "Amazing, Outstanding"

Nick Cannon is gearing up for the fifth annual TeenNick HALO Awards, which honors teens who make a
difference in their communities. Hosted, created and executive produced by Cannon, the special pairs each honoree with a celebrity - Josh Hutcherson, Queen Latifah, Chris Paul and Shay Mitchell - who shares their commitment to service.
Cannon, 33, talked to Parade.com about his inspiration for the HALO Awards, passing down his love of service to his two-year-old twins, Monroe and Morocco, and planning for the holiday season with wife Mariah Carey.

Christmas is really big in your family. What do you have planned for the upcoming holiday season?
My wife is Miss Christmas, so it's definitely going to be festive! It's really about just shutting everything down. That's the only time of the year we get to do that and kind of focus solely on family and celebrating the holiday. That's what I look forward to more than anything.

What do you get the woman who has everything?
As long as it's thoughtful, she's happy with it. It's never really about how much it costs or how grand it is, it's more about how thoughtful it is. Like I'll put together a video of the past year and put music to it, and I once had one of her favorite artists paint a picture of her. The more thoughtful the gift is, the better.

What can you share about Mariah's latest single, "The Art of Letting Go", which will be released on November 11?
It's amazing! It's outstanding. Her focus is on the new song right now, and after that, she'll probably reveal something else to the world!

"All I Want For Christmas Is You" Tops Holiday Songs

The holiday music season kicks off with Mariah once again topping the charts! In the chart dated October 26, 2013, "All I Want For Christmas Is You" leads Billboard's Holiday Digital Songs.

"All I Want for Christmas Is You" has been lauded, with The New Yorker calling it "one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon". The song was commercially successful, reaching the No. 2 position on the singles charts of Australia, Japan, the Netherlands, Norway, and the United Kingdom, and the top 10 in several other countries. The song became the nineteenth-best-selling digital single of the 20th century, the highest-charting entry by a female or holiday song on the list. The Daily Telegraph hailed "All I Want for Christmas Is You" as the most popular and most played Christmas song of the decade in the United Kingdom. Rolling Stone ranked it fourth on its Greatest Rock and Roll Christmas Songs list, calling it a "holiday standard." With global sales of over 12 million copies, the song remains Carey's biggest international hit, and one of the best-selling singles of all time.
