Mariah Carey announces album release date

Mariah Carey's thirteenth studio album has a release date: the pop superstar revealed that her next full-length
is due out on July 23, and Island Def Jam has confirmed the date. "The new era begins 7/23," the 43-year-old singer posted to her 11 million Twitter followers. The album has been previewed by the Miguel duet "#Beautiful", which bumps up to No. 17 on the Hot 100 chart to be released in full tomorrow on Billboard.com.
The new album follows 2009's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", which featured the single "Obsessed" and has sold 546,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Carey also released a new holiday album, "Merry Christmas II You", in 2010.
Last week, Carey officially announced that she would not be returning to the "American Idol" judges panel, after starring on the show alongside Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson in 2013. Instead, Carey's focus has swiveled to her solo career: the singer has performed "#Beautiful" on "Good Morning America" and at Hot 97 Summer Jam, the latter a surprise appearance alongside Miguel. "#Beautiful" marks Carey's 27th Top 10 hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart - the fourth most Top 10s all-time on the tally for a female.
Carey will perform on NBC's "Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular" on July 4, and will also embark on a world tour beginning in October, although dates have yet to be announced. She supported "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" with the Angels Advocate tour, which ran throughout 2010.
