| "Mariah hasn't performed live in about a year," says a source. "She wanted to make sure everything was perfect. She certainly doesn't sing to a track." And so a dream dies. But the possibility still exists of Carey singing on next year's premiere. Meantime, I am also told that Mariah's album with under-the-radar manager Randy Jackson is proceeding well. This could be her last album for Universal Music Group if she decides to join L.A. Reid at Epic/Sony. And Justin Bieber? Despite his enormous teen popularity, his Christmas album is being outsold by Michael Buble at a rate of 2 to 1. (Showbizz411) |

Mariah Carey's Holiday Special will premiere on December 19th. Only on
A source close tο Mariah Carey tells HollywoodLife.com exclusively thе powerhouse іѕ preparation οn belting out a nеw hit οn ‘Thе X Factor' finale Dec. 22
Thе five left over contestants οn Thе X Factor аrе аƖƖ competing fοr a $5 million recording contract, bυt thеу’ve bу now caught thе eye οf one οf thе Ɩаrɡеѕt music divas іn thе world, thе one аnԁ οnƖу Mariah Carey. In fact, BBCNewstime.com hаѕ learned exclusively thе 41-year-ancient performer іѕ preparation οn supporting thе nеw singers аt Thе X Factor finale іn a couple weeks.
An insider tells υѕ, “Everyone іѕ really excited. Mariah wіƖƖ bе performing a nеw song whісh hasn’t bееn tοƖԁ уеt. Thе producers аrе forceful lipped аnԁ want іt tο bе a surprise.”
Thе source adds, “Mariah hаѕ bееn watching thе ѕhοw religiously аnԁ doesn’t know whο tο vote fοr. Shе thinks аƖƖ thе contestants аrе truly gifted. Shе ѕауѕ іf ѕhе сουƖԁ, ѕhе wουƖԁ hаνе thеm ALL win!”
Wе саn’t wait tο hear Mariah belt out a nеw tune.| This year she re-recorded it with Justin Bieber, who sings back up in his new low register. He isn't Perry Como or even Steven Tyler, but the keeps up with Miss 8 Octaves and doesn't do too badly. Carey has said she will make a number of appearances on "X Factor" this season, largely because it's controlled by her record company, Universal Music. Also, her former and future label chief, L.A. Reid, a is a judge. This is complicated because her unofficial manager and music director Randy Jackson is a judge and mainstay of "American Idol". At any rate, set your DVRs to see the newly slimmed down Mariah sex up Justin on live TV. Let's hope there's no wardrobe malfunction. (Showbiz411) |
| "I was in so much pain. I was laying on this bed and we had a studio set up in the room," Carey said. "I want to get back in and get going. It's just right now, the music business goes on this hiatus and you have to get back in there in January." Translation: don't expect any more maternity leave from the singer in 2012. (Fuse) |

Michael Buble’s cover of Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” does what the original never did: it reaches No. 1 on Billboard’s Adult Contemporary radio airplay chart.
The remake bounds 10-1 in its third week on the AC tally, outperforming the No. 6 peak to which Carey’s version climbed the week of Jan. 7, 1995. Just past Thanksgiving, Buble’s version received airplay on 64 of the AC panel’s 76 stations in the chart’s tracking week, as the format makes its annual segue to a reliance on holiday music, a movement that intensified at the beginning of the 2000s.
Buble’s slower take than Carey’s jangly original “Christmas” marks his fourth AC No. 1, following “Home” (two weeks, 2005); “Everything” (three, 2007); and, “Haven’t Met You Yet” (three, 2010).
(Carey, meanwhile, is charting on AC with a new version of “Christmas.” Justin Bieber’s new duet of the song with Carey, from his seasonal set “Under the Mistletoe,” jumps 18-11 in its second week).

| Mariah's voice is strong as she harmonizes with Legend on the lines, "And me and you gon' have ourselves a holiday. And we don't need nobody else to celebrate. And we're gon' kiss our worries and our cares away. I can't wait. Because this Christmas time, get together. It's gonna be so nice, better than ever. And baby you're the one, special treasure." "When Christmas Comes" features horns and piano accenting a simple R&B groove. Before the final chorus, as the singers freelance on a few bars of "Jingle Bells", listeners are treated to notes from the upper reaches of Mariah's five-octave range, which she rarely shows off anymore. Some of the cutesy imagery falls flat, like, "I can't wait to unwrap your love." But otherwise, it's hard to find fault with the holiday duet from two of pop music's most powerful vocalists. The song is an improved version of the track that Carey performed solo on 2010's "Merry Christmas II You". (PopCrush) |

Elsewhere on the chart, Michael Buble's album Christmas holds at #2, and has a good shot at reaching #1 next week because of increasing sales week to week. Andrea Bocelli's Concerto: One Night in Central Park, featuring guest appearances by Tony Bennett and Celine Dion, debuts at number four, and Glee, the Music: The Christmas Album debuts at #6.
Billboard points out that there are now three, count 'em, three albums in the top 10 that feature a version of Mariah Carey's "All I Want for Christmas Is You." It's on Michael Buble's album, the Glee album and on Justin Bieber's Under the Mistletoe, which is currently at #5. That means a very Merry Christmas for Mariah when it comes to royalty checks.

Nothing says Christmas like Mariah Carey. The festive diva invited “Extra” on set of her new video for “When Christmas Comes” with John Legend. While gathered in front of a Christmas tree in her Beverly Hills home, she spoke with her pal AJ Calloway about the Sanaa Hamri-directed clip, dueting with Legend, and Dem Babies, who will make a cameo.
“I wanted this to be the most fun, family Christmas,” explained Roc and Roe’s mom. “It’s like a soulful family Christmas song and yet I wanted to add all the elements of anything magical that could happen at Christmas.”
During an interview with “The Tom Joyner Morning Show,” the Christmas queen also revealed plans to release a deluxe version of her 2010 holiday album Merry Christmas II You next year.

Her twins, Moroccan and Monroe, were born in April — and while Mariah Carey swears she never knew exactly how many pregnancy pounds she'd gained, she's now proudly talking about how she lost them! After following the Jenny Craig plan for a little over three months, Mariah, 41, their brand ambassador, is thrilled with the results and sat down with OK! to talk about it.
How do you feel being in such great shape again?
Well, I think I'm in shape, but I'm still on my quest to work out — I want to be healthy enough where I can cheat, and it doesn't matter!
What are your cheat foods?
Well, in New York, Sicilian pizza. In Italy, pizza. I like french fries, too. You know, stuff like that. I also love pasta.
Why did you choose Jenny?
Being in this partnership with Jenny and the American Heart Association is an honor for me because I know that their intentions are really good. So many of their top women executives have had babies and know what pregnant women go through.
Do you ever cook for yourself?
Sometimes, I'd have a salad that I'd make for myslef. I had Jenny products and then I'd mixed it up a little bit. I would make stuff for myself, like salads and egg white omelets and things like that.
Do you work out?
I really went back into working out hard, kind of a bit early, so I think I have a lesson for everybody: Being conscious of your health is so important. I work really hard on my arms to get them strong and in shape, but one arm is a little less strong than the other because I'm dealing with carpal tunnel nerve issue. But it'll be fine. I just have to take care of it. I have to go to my physical therapist.
What's your plan to maintain the weight loss long-term?
Well, I had my babies, and now I work out and stay on my diet. And when you want to have a good day with food in terms of what you want to eat, you have that day, and then the next day, you go back to the program and work out a bit harder. It's just about discipline. Really disciplining yourself.
How important is diet and fitness now that you are a mom?
I think it's really important. I have to stay healthy for my kids and I want to set a good example for them. Not that they know anything now — they're only [7] months! They're not walking in, asking, "Mommy, what size are your jeans?" Nobody's doing that, but I think it's important. Health is always important. We tend to neglect that, and go for the easy fast food and things like that. But with Jenny there's portion control. You can get soups with only 50 calories, and you drink that, and at least for the moment, you're satiated. You're not starving. You're feeling good — and there are some nutrients in you. You can eat six little meals a day, and that was my thing. I just ate more, but smaller portions. I'm 5-foot-9 and curvy — this is what I look like and I feel good about myself.
