The Art of Letting Go...

Wednesday, June 19, 2013

Nick: "Me, Dave! Come on, man! You know I run it. She may pay the bills, but I run the house!"

Nick Cannon appeared on The Late Show With David Letterman last night to promote America's Got Talent & his MTV2 series Wild 'N Out. He spoke with Letterman about home life with Mariah and the twins. Check out what he had to say below:

Nick Cannon said that he "willed into existence" his marriage to Mariah Carey during his visit to "Late Show." He said he'd always considered Carey his dream girl, and that hasn't changed. The only difference is that now he's living his dream every day.

"She's mommy. She's no longer Mariah around the house," Cannon said of Carey. "She's just mommy. So it's a beautiful thing." The couple has young twins at home.

When asked who runs the house, Cannon declared, "Me, Dave! Come on, man! You know I run it. She may pay the bills, but I run the house!"

JD Confirms Mariah's album title on twitter

Rumor: And The Title of Mariah Carey’s New Album is…

Mariah Carey started her career with relatively simple album titles: Emotions, Daydream, Butterfly, and
Mariah Carey all spring to mind. But in the past ten years, Mimi’s titles have gotten a lot more, shall we say, dramatic? There was The Emancipation of Mimi, the scientific E=MC2, and who can forget the Lifetime movie of the week, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel. The diva continues the trend with the title of her upcoming fourteenth studio album, The Art of Letting Go, which was prematurely revealed earlier today by Walmart.

What exactly is Mariah letting go of, though? Musical trend hopping and dressing like an AVN award winner? Judging by the crotchtastic music video for her latest single, hashtag “Beautiful,” that would be a no. Mimi has yet to explain the meaning behind the title, but she did reference it on instagram with the caption on that very Mariah-esque pool picture you see above.

“A much needed splash after hours pon de mic singing for my #beautiful #lambily!” she wrote. “Melancholic moment letting go of something this personal to me yet I couldn’t be more excited to give three years of my soul to the fans.”

The Art of Letting Go got off to a slow start with its non-charting lead single, “Triumphant,” but things are looking a lot better for the album now thanks to the success of “#Beautiful.” The song just reached a new peak of No. 15 on the Hot 100, and is just a few thousand copies shy of being certified gold. With a strong follow-up single (a “We Belong Together” for “#Beautiful’s” “It’s Like That”), this could end up being a big era for Mimi.

#Beautiful (Remix)

I Loved the picture Mariah tweeted tonight so much I used it for a remix cover.

Mariah tweets picture of her spotless kitchen to fans

On Sunday Mariah Carey was one of the first stars who woke up and used social media to wish the men of the world a happy father's day. While she was talking to everyone the real man around her house, Nick Cannon, was the special focus of her message. As her devotees were extremely impressed, they also were offered a glimpse into her private home with a unsuspecting picture.
"Happy Father's Day everyone and especially to my amazing husband Nick Cannon," tweeted Mariah Carey from her official Twitter account. The picture she attached to the message had her family all sitting at the table while Nick Cannon was enjoying a special breakfast.
Looking behind the family, the spotless kitchen of Mariah Carey couldn't be ignored. The typical all-American location where meals were cooked looked to be absolutely spotless. Not a container on the counter and no dish (except on the table) was seen.
While Mariah Carey didn't mention if she actually cooked the meal for Nick herself or if someone else did it, her kitchen definitely is a place for fans to be jealous over. The perfection of the room had everyone absolutely impressed.

The New Era Begins... #MC723

Mariah Carey photo causes a stir

A still from Lee Daniel's latest movie, The Butler, is causing a bit of a ruckus on Twitter. The movie is about
Eugene Allen, who retired as head butler of the White House in 1986. The photo shows Mariah Carey as a slave working in a cotton field with two other darker-skinned (assumed) slaves in the background.
The picture raised questions in some folks' minds about the historical accuracy of the film: How likely would it be that someone of Mariah's complexion would be working in the fields on a plantation? It seems that most people think that light skin meant you were working in the house, and that dark skin invariably put you in the fields, which is untrue. I'm going to try to decide whether we should blame movies or our failing educational system for this.

The Butler

There is a new promo picture of Mariah from The Butler. The Butler is an upcoming historical drama film

directed by Lee Daniels and featuring an ensemble cast. The film stars Forest Whitaker as Cecil Gaines, an African-American who eyewitnesses notable events of the 20th century during his tenure as a White House butler.

Mariah Carey announces album release date

Mariah Carey's thirteenth studio album has a release date: the pop superstar revealed that her next full-length
is due out on July 23, and Island Def Jam has confirmed the date. "The new era begins 7/23," the 43-year-old singer posted to her 11 million Twitter followers. The album has been previewed by the Miguel duet "#Beautiful", which bumps up to No. 17 on the Hot 100 chart to be released in full tomorrow on Billboard.com.
The new album follows 2009's "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel", which featured the single "Obsessed" and has sold 546,000 copies to date, according to Nielsen SoundScan. Carey also released a new holiday album, "Merry Christmas II You", in 2010.
Last week, Carey officially announced that she would not be returning to the "American Idol" judges panel, after starring on the show alongside Nicki Minaj, Keith Urban and Randy Jackson in 2013. Instead, Carey's focus has swiveled to her solo career: the singer has performed "#Beautiful" on "Good Morning America" and at Hot 97 Summer Jam, the latter a surprise appearance alongside Miguel. "#Beautiful" marks Carey's 27th Top 10 hit on the R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart - the fourth most Top 10s all-time on the tally for a female.
Carey will perform on NBC's "Macy's Fourth of July Fireworks Spectacular" on July 4, and will also embark on a world tour beginning in October, although dates have yet to be announced. She supported "Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel" with the Angels Advocate tour, which ran throughout 2010.

Mariah Carey's new album to be released next month

Former American Idol judge/diva Mariah Carey took to Twitter today to announce that her new album, the
first in four years, is set to be released next month, on July 23. She posted: "The new era begins 7/23." Carey also confirmed to a fan on Twitter that the album has yet to receive an official title.
As Mariah recently told Billboard, her new album "has more raw ballads than people might expect", and producers including Jermaine Dupri, Bryan-Michael Cox, Big Jim Wright, Hit-Boy, The-Dream, Mike Will, and Rodney Jerkins. The new album is the follow-up to her worldwide multi-million-selling Memoirs Of An Imperfect Angel (released September 2009).
Mariah Carey is the best-selling female artist of all time with more than 200 million albums sold to date. She has a total of 223 #1 records across all Billboard singles, albums, sales, and airplay charts, dating back to her "Vision Of Love" debut, including 18 Billboard #1 Hot 100 singles (17 self-penned). With her distinct five-octave vocal range, prolific songwriting, and producing talent, Carey has defined the modern pop performance. As a singer/songwriter/ producer, she has been recognized with five Grammy Awards, nine American Music Awards, Billboard's Artist of the Decade Award, the World Music Award for World's Best Selling Female Artist of the Millennium, and BMI's Icon Award for her outstanding achievements in songwriting, to name a few.

Mariah Carey unveils new album release date: July 23, 2013

Mariah shares family pic of mother and daughter

Mariah Carey posted a precious photo on her Twitter today of herself, her mother, Patricia, and her daughter, Monroe. She captioned the pic, "So much love with my mommy and my daughter." Little Monroe looked more interested in her grandmother than the camera, but her songstress mother made sure to flash her famous smile for the shot.
All three lovely ladies look fabulous, and it's no mystery where Carey gets her stunning looks from! The family photo comes on the heels of some major career news for the "#Beautiful" singer. Carey announced her official departure as a judge on American Idol last week. She also revealed that she'll be embarking on a world tour.
While no tour dates or details have been released as of yet, this is a huge career move for the pop icon. Carey's last world tour was the Angels Advocate Tour in 2009.

Miguel nabs surprise Mariah Carey appearance

Less than one hour after it began, two A-list mega-talents made surprise appearances during Hot 97's
Summer Jam XX, reaffirming its reputation as one of the most reliably unpredictable fests around. Athletic R&B crooner Miguel brought out Born Sinner rapper J. Cole and living legend Mariah Carey for a jaw-dropping (as opposed to jaw-kicking) set.
 J. Cole - rocking a Portlandia-esque red hoodie covered in birds - hit the stage with Miguel for an energized run-through of their "Power Trip" track. And despite playing for just under a half hour, Miguel managed to slip another musical heavy-hitter into his set: Diva #1, Mariah Carey.
With backup singers in tow, Carey strolled onstage to join her "#Beautiful" collaborator and was greeted with an overwhelming wall of applause from the New Jersey/New York crowd. Because, duh, she's Mariah Carey. You have to shower her with applause when you see her - it's like a social contract she has with the entirety of America.
Miguel - who managed to break through in a huge way last year despite his 2010 debut fizzling - could hardly hide the triumph and celebration on his face as he sang with the Alpha Diva. But whenever she opened her mouth, he immediately dropped to his knees as if in supplication to the Queen. Their collabo might be dominated by his sonic imprint, but he knows who's boss when they're onstage together.
Gossip-mongers might see Mimi's Summer Jam appearance as a subtle way to throw shade on her Idol sparring partner Nicki Minaj, who had a rather famous beef with the fest (although Minaj herself made a shocker appearance several hours later that night at Summer Jam). And hell, maybe it was. But who cares? When Mariah's on stage, you don't question why. You just soak in the glitter.

Acquiescent Nothingness Incessantly: A Glossary of Mariah Carey's 10-Cent Words

Regardless of her virtual absence, "Triumphant" is classic Mimi in that its name is the sort of gratuitous, multi-syllabic vocab word that she has relied upon throughout her career. She's known for her ridiculous album titles that either conjure Lisa Frank with compound nouns (Music Box, Daydream, Butterfly, Rainbow, Charmbracelet) or read like inside jokes babbled by Precious Moments figurines (The Emancipation of Mimi, Memoirs of an Imperfect Angel). But that's hardly the extent of her strange relationship with English. Her lyrics are littered with, as she might say, peculiar words that suggest she is a vocabulary booster enthusiast. She loves her some adverbs. The result is a body of words that are rarely, if ever, heard in pop music. They are below.
A
Abandonedly – "Butterfly," Butterfly "For you have become a butterfly / Oh, fly abandonedly into the sun"

C
Captivates – "To Be Around You," Emotions "Every time you smile it captivates my mind"
  "Compulsively" in "Shake It Off."
Cascades – "Sunflowers for Alfred Roy," Charmbracelet "I'm picturing you and me there right now as the crystal cascades showered down"
Compulsively – "Shake It Off," The Emancipation of Mimi "You would cheat with all your freaks and lie compulsively"

Mariah Carey's hot to play iconic Marilyn Monroe role

They're big shoes to fill but Mariah Carey is in talks about reprising the role made famous by Marilyn
Monroe in iconic 1959 film Some Like It Hot. The 43-year-old singer and sometime actress is a big fan of the tragic star, buying her old piano for almost £400,000 in 1999 and even naming one of her two-year-old twins Monroe.
And it now appears she's homing in on her dream role in the remake of the movie, in which Marilyn originally starred alongside Tony Curtis and Jack Lemmon, right. "Some Like It Hot was Mariah's favourite film when she was growing up. There have been some initial discussions and the producers think she's a natural successor to play Marilyn's role," a source close to Mariah tells us, adding that with filming on American Idol, where she acts as a judge, having come to an end, the timing could be just right.
"She's got a fantastic sense of humour, is looking incredible at the moment and has acted before so it's a great fit. She's putting the final touches to her latest album and has just finished filming American Idol so there should be more talks shortly."
Mariah, who is the biggest-selling female artist of all time, is releasing new single #Beautiful from the album on June 24 but it would appear she's now ready to enjoy a return to acting having made her big-screen debut in Glitter in 2001.
