DOWNLOAD: Mariah on GMA!!!
In addition to talking about her Jenny Craig weight loss and upcoming album, Mariah also discussed her husband Nick Cannon's health problems. "Nick is doing well. It's a very complicate thing and I know he spoke on it himself. I feel a little bit awkward because I don't know exactly what he was revealing when he was talking to people. But the best thing, I think, was the choice that he made to leave the radio show and just focus on 'America's Got Talent' and 'Up All Night' which he just won an NAACP Award."
"It was just something that hit us really hard at the top of the year... we wound up at the hospital. We didn't know how big of a deal it was."
(GossipCenter)
Mariah also revealed what it was like working with the legendary icon: "It was great and I don't think people could ever understand our relationship. There was always this supposed rivalry in the beginning and then we did the duet and we became friends."
It's a sad time for Mariah, who collaborated with Whitney Houston on their beautiful ballad, "When You Believe". The mother of twins also told GMA that the service "was gorgeous, the way she went out and the way family dealt with it, I was very moved." We couldn't agree more.

Cannon Quits Radio Show On Doctor's Orders
The America's Got Talent presenter was recently diagnosed with acute kidney failure after falling ill while on a post-Christmas (11) family vacation in Aspen, Colorado. He subsequently underwent surgery in Los Angeles and returned for further treatment in January (12).
He was back under doctors' care last Friday (10Feb12) when he was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and an enlarged ventricle in his heart.
Cannon addressed his health woes on air, revealing his physician has urged him to cut back on work, adding, "My doctor was saying that my work is going to kill me - and he's not joking. I think part of the reason why my health did kind of deteriorate was because I wasn't resting a lot and I was doing too much. I was overworking myself, working out too much."
Now he's heeded the doctor's warning and will step down from his morning show on New York's Wxrk station.
A statement from Cannon reads, "Under doctor's orders, I have been asked to cut back on some of my professional commitments to allow my body to get the rest it needs to keep up with the demands of my multitasking schedule. Even Superman has to sleep."
He will continue to host syndicated radio show Cannon's Countdown and America's Got Talent.

Nick Cannon Hospitalized Again For Blood Clots
The America's Got Talent presenter was recently diagnosed with acute kidney failure after falling ill while on a post-Christmas family vacation in Aspen, Colorado. He subsequently underwent surgery in Los Angeles and returned for further treatment in January.
However, Cannon had to seek doctors' help once again last Friday following another health crisis as a result of his busy work schedule between New York and Los Angeles.
This time, he was diagnosed with blood clots in his lungs and an enlarged ventricle in his heart. He resumed his work commitments on Wednesday and has now opened up about his health struggles during a candid chat on his Big Apple radio show on Thursday.
Admitting it was "quite serious", he explained, "I was trying to downplay it a lot, even in my own mind. I travel a lot. Anyone who flies a lot can be a victim to getting blood clots because it can start in your legs or your lower back (from sitting for an extended period of time)."
"That, on top of my previous condition (kidney failure) made me more prone to (getting blood clots). I couldn't sleep because I was in so much pain. I was having a lot of pain in my back."
Doctors have warned Cannon to cut back on his work schedule - and the father of twins is finally realizing that he needs to take better care of himself.
He said, "My doctor was saying that my work is going to kill me - and he's not joking. I think part of the reason why my health did kind of deteriorate was because I wasn't resting a lot and I was doing too much. I was overworking myself, working out too much."
"I always took a lot of pride in working so hard and never taking a day off. But I'm learning that it isn't the wisest thing all the time, especially being a new father. Not only wanting to spend more time with my children, but wanting to be there for my children."

Mariah’s GMA Appearance Postponed
A rep for Carey said: “Mariah is still mourning the death of her friend and collaborator Whitney Houston and thought it was too soon to appear on TV to discuss anything else.”
Mariah’s 1998 collaboration with Whitney Houston, “When You Believe”, won an Academy Award for “Best Song” in 1999. Soon after she heard the tragic news of Whitney’s passing, Mariah released a statement saying:
“Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. My heartfelt condolences to Whitney’s family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth.”

Whitney Houston dies aged 48
Regarded as one of the most celebrated female acts of all time, Houston also enjoyed success acting in films such as The Bodyguard and Waiting to Exhale. But her later career was overshadowed by drug use and her turbulent marriage to singer Bobby Brown.
Houston's background was steeped in soul and gospel music. Her mother was gospel singer Cissy Houston and she was cousin to singer Dionne Warwick, and goddaughter to Aretha Franklin. Having grown up in New Jersey, she began singing in church and then in the night clubs of New York, and was a model before being signed by Arista Records.
At the height of her career in the 1980s and 90s she won many awards and enjoyed several number one singles and albums. In recent years drug use took its toll on the star and her voice - once acknowledged as one of the finest in pop music - was badly damaged.

Mariah and Whitney had a big hit in 1999 with When You Believe from the movie The Prince of Egypt. On March 21, 1999, this song won the Oscar for Best Original Song. After the recording, Mariah and Whitney remained friends.
As soon as the news broke Mariah tweeted: "Heartbroken and in tears over the shocking death of my friend, the incomparable Ms. Whitney Houston. My heartfelt condolences to Whitney's family and to all her millions of fans throughout the world. She will never be forgotten as one of the greatest voices to ever grace the earth."

Simon Cowell squashes Mariah Carey "X Factor" rumors
While her dismissal came as a surprise, Cowell says Abdul "was very gracious" about it. "She understands it's business," Cowell said of his real-life friend. "It's never personal." Scherzinger, according to Cowell, was "disappointed" with the producers' decision to replace her. But the former Pussycat Doll insisted in a new "Access Hollywood" interview that she "had a wonderful experience on the show".
"What happened? Well, all I know is that I gave 110 percent to that show," she said. "I know everybody's talking about it, they're saying good, bad, they love me or hate me, but the one thing you can't say is that I didn't give it my all."
Cowell also used his time with "Extra" to squash rumors that Beyoncé or Mariah Carey might be joining the "X Factor" team when it returns to Fox later this year. He seemed particularly amused by talk that the show was offering Beyoncé a nine-figure contract to join the judges' table. "The budget for the show is $100 million. That would never ever happen. It's absolute nonsense," he told "Extra". "No one is going to pay $100 million for someone. I genuinely haven't had a conversation with her about it. Not at all."
The same can be said for Carey, who Cowell said he likes very much and would be a fine addition to the show but is an impractical choice because of the long hours involved. "I adore her, love her," he said. "But you can't expect someone who has just had two kids and has a record career to make the kind of commitment we would need on this show."
"X Factor" did not perform as strongly as expected in the ratings last fall, which many feel precipitated the planned revamp, though the ever-cool Cowell is not sweating the competition. In this latest interview, Cowell took on "The Voice", which returned to NBC after the Super Bowl and delivered big ratings, saying the makeup of his judging panel is what sets "X Factor" apart.
"I would ask how many records have they made, how many artists have they discovered?" Cowell asked of "The Voice" mentors Christina Aguilera, Cee Lo Green, Adam Levine and Blake Shelton. "That's where we have to be different on the judging panel. It's very important that you have people on the panel that have actually signed and made artists successful all over the world, not just have made hit records yourself."

Most people don’t realize that weight impacts their heart health and maintaining a healthy weight can positively impact risk factors including, blood pressure and cholesterol management, blood sugar levels, and BMI. Jenny Brand Ambassador Mariah Carey, who lost 30 pounds* on Jenny following the birth of her twins is passionate about Jenny’s relationship with the American Heart Association, and feels like it was a match made in heaven. Carey will film and produce a new PSA for the American Heart Association that will debut in February.
“I’m so honored to be a part of this. It’s more than just about losing weight–it’s about raising consciousness. I was very surprised to learn that every 34 seconds someone has a heart attack, but it doesn’t have to be this way. By living just a little healthier, you can make a difference,” said Carey.
The Heart Walk is the American Heart Association’s premiere event that brings communities together to raise funds and celebrate progress in the fight against this country’s No. 1 and No. 4 killers, heart diseases and stroke. This year, more than one million walkers will participate in nearly 350 events.
“Jenny is more committed than ever to combating the obesity epidemic, and with it the overwhelming health issues caused by weight-related diseases,” said Dana Fiser, Global CEO of Jenny. “And that’s why our relationship with the American Heart Association and involvement in the My Heart. X Factor L.A. Reid Reportedly Signed for Season 2, Mariah Carey Being Considered
A source tells the Hollywood Reporter that L.A. Reid signed his contract for season 2 of X Factor yesterday (Feb 3). Earlier in the week, news broke that Steve Jones, Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherzinger would not be returning.
Oh yay. L.A.’s attempts at Simon Cowell like meanness were lame and transparent and revealed he had little knowledge of music outside of R&B and Hip-Hop. I don’t see the point of having two record executives on the panel. If Simon is going to keep L.A., he should remove himself from the panel. He’s not nearly as entertaining as he was when he was lobbing bon mots at contestants during Idol’s early years. Now, he’s about bolstering the contestants on his own team at the expense of the other judges. Ugh at having to endure more stupid fake sparing between Simon and L.A.
In the meantime, THR’s source says the Beyonce offer of 100m dollars is just a rumor, but that Mariah Carey “is indeed being considered as show producers look towards strengthening their female and Midwest appeal.”

Randy Jackson: Mariah Carey Would Be "Amazing" Judge
So what did Randy Jackson have to say today when he talked to reporters in a press call?
Not much when it came to buzz about Mariah Carey being on Simon Cowel’s short list of judges to replace Paula Abdul and Nicole Scherziner.
When asked if he thinks Carey would be a good judge for The X Factor?, Jackson said, “She’d be amazing. I mean, I manage her, so of course I’m going to say that. She’d be amazing.”
So does he think Carey will join the show? “I don’t know if that’s ever going to happen,” he said. “Look, Simon’s one of the smartest people I know. I’m sure he’s got some very interesting ideas up his sleeve.”
Would he have problems with his artist being on a rival show? “No, no, not at all. She’s her own person. She can of course do whatever she wants and she always will do that,” Jackson explained, adding, “Simon’s one of my dearest friends in the world.”
And so is Paula. But, he says, “I have not spoken to Paula” since she was fired.
“We texted back and forth. I’m sad to hear about what’s going on with that show. All of those people are dear friends of mine.”
